History

The Moy Estate near Inverness was indentified as an area suitable for accommodating a large scale wind farm. Following an Environmental Impact Assessment, planning consent for a 20 turbine site was received from Scottish Government in late February 2012.

On 24th January 2014, Moy Wind Farm received consent from Scottish Ministers to increase its capacity from 50MW to 60MW.

The initial stages were carried out by Carbon Free Developments Limited. Eneco purchased the rights to develop Moy Wind Farm and is now leading the construction and operations phases of the project. It is anticipated that the wind farm will be fully operational by April 2016.
